Be careful when you quote Psychiatrists!

31 August 2011

From Fox News (and many other concerned media reports around the world)

A group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals say it’s time to change the way society views individuals who have physical attractions to children. The organization, which calls itself B4U-Act, is lobbying for changes to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, the guideline of standards on mental health that’s put together by the American Psychiatric Association. ….According to the group, which said to not endorse every point of view expressed, the speakers in attendance concluded that “minor-attracted”  individuals (notice the manipulation of labels) are largely misunderstood and should not be criminalized even as their actions should be discouraged. Speakers also argued that people who are sexually attracted to children should have input into the decision about how pedophilia is defined in the DSM, which they said is supposed to be a guide to promote “mental health vs. social control.”

Critics of the conference say it was a thinly veiled attempt to make children of any age sexually accessible to adults. “Absolutely,” Dr. Judith Reisman, a visiting professor of law at Liberty School of Law said. “Oh, they’re very clear about that. Their goal is to take all shame out of the lust for children.” The American Psychiatric Association did not participate in the conference, and evidently does not condone the group’s message. “An adult who engages in sexual activity with a child is performing a criminal and immoral act and this is never considered normal or socially acceptable behavior,” the APA wrote in a 2003 position statement.

I ‘always’ find myself in the minority in this society, but in this case I believe I am part of fairly sizeable minority, who have a suspicion of psychiatry anyway.

Psychology I can accept, although the “model-man” they are trying to achieve is wrong. (The right model is Jesus Christ.)

But the idea of working on the brain to get a functioning human being to me has always been a flawed concept. To me it’s like always tinkering with the gearbox to have a happy road trip.

I accept the value of study, and recognise some advances, but I still think this actually young science has been given extra creedence only because it gives Governments something they must have — a dollar way of dealing with difficult mental health patients. (Sedation, note, not cure.)

Appologies to some very well-intentioned people, but I always yeah this headline.

i agree with Dr. Judith Reisman, that the goal of this group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals is to take all shame out of the lust for children. This in turn will open up the floodgates to further abuse and the loss of innocence for our tamariki/children.

It is wrong and frightful. Children do not have the mental, emotional and physical maturity to sexually engage with a mature adult body let alone the acts that that adult may desire to do with that child.

It is pure lust and evil in nature.

Goodness – when are some individuals going to wake up
to the fact that there is a difference between adults and children. It is the role of adults to protect, not abuse or condone abusive behaviour towards minors. That is why they are called ‘minors,. I hope that some adults who have a good dose of common sense can take action to quash this latest move by a minority group to soften public opinion and lower tolerance levels towards paedophilia.

This is insane! If there ever wasa a reason to destroy the “PC” and “Human Rights” defense, this is it. “minor-attracted individuals ”

If anything we need to be seriously considering the merits of reinstituting corproal punishment, and fully recognizing the dangers of elements in society that have been allowed to be of main stream living.

Those psychiatrists need their heads checked.
