Call for Withdrawal of Air NZ ‘Tacky’ Billboard

Media Release 17 December 2010
Family First NZ is supporting calls for an Air NZ Grab-A-Seat Billboard with the words “Fares lower than your grandma’s boobs” to be withdrawn.

“This is a disrespectful tacky billboard inappropriate for the viewing of families and children,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ. “It is also insulting to our grandparents who deserve respect – not to be publicly ridiculed.”

“It is disappointing that our national carrier is forgetting that public billboards are seen by all members of the public – including children.”

“Families and our elderly deserve more respect from Air New Zealand,” says Mr McCoskrie.

When Air New Zealand ran the ad they later pulled about the All Black not wanting to kiss a homosexual flight attendant they checked homosexual groups first who were happy with the ad. They later pulled it because some militant homosexuals complained.

I doubt if they canvassed anyone before they went with this ad that is very offensive particularly to older women like grandmothers.

As far as I know Air New Zealand still has a policy of not allowing unaccompanied children to sit next to a man. If this policy protected children I would not mind. As far as I know there has been no case of a child being molested on an aircraft.

I think I will write to Rob Fyfe and ask why his company panders to militant homosexuals but ignores the rest of its customers.
