Ban Street Prostitution In Auckland (and beyond)

A Bill allowing Manukau City Council to ban street prostitution passed its first reading and has been sent to a select committee for public submissions. The purpose of this bill is to authorise the Manukau City Council to make bylaws prohibiting the business of prostitution or commercial sexual services in specified public places in Manukau City. It is expected that the legislation will be now extended to cover the whole of the Auckland Super City, and then hopefully the whole of the country.

It’s a good law for families, and the politicians should support the wishes of local communities

Submissions must be submitted by Friday 5 November 2010

Just privatise the street fronts outside of shops and businesses etc and then its just a matter of tresspass….simple.While this is “public” land theres always going to be an issue because Prostitutes are the public too and have as much right to be there as anyone else.

Private property rights eliminate conflicts like this by making clear who owns what and who gets to decide what happens on that property.Public (meaning State controlled) land leads inevertibly to conflicts as we all think we own it but no one actually does. The reason street hookers work on public streets and not on private property is obvious no?
