Labour and Ardern continue to slide in polls

Key takeaways from the poll on 27th January – the first major political poll of 2022, and the first since Christopher Luxon became leader of the National Party:
Labour were at a 53% high just after the election in 2020. They’ve plummeted to 40% in the latest poll. That’s a loss of almost a quarter of their voters. (National 25% up to 32%)
Jacinda was at a 58% high as preferred PM just after the election in 2020. That’s plummeted to 35% in the latest poll. That’s a loss of almost 40% of her supporters.
The real test for Labour in 2022 is whether they can stop “the slide”. And whether National can present itself as a viable Government in waiting.
Representing the voice of conservative voters will be their first major challenge.
