‘It’s the adults who need the telling off’- South Auckland brawl
TVNZ OneNews 16 February 2016
Family First Comment: “…Usually adults tell children off for unacceptable behaviour, but in this case it is the adults who need the telling-off.”
A video showing a young boy caught up in a mass brawl in South Auckland is not an isolated case, Family First claim.
The video shows police officers clashing with a group of men and women, and then a child rubbing his face apparently due to the effects of pepper-spray.
A woman is heard in the video screaming at police, “you sprayed the little kid”.
The family of the boy say he is doing well. They said everything happened quickly yesterday and they were unable to get the boy inside.
“My son is fine,” the father told ONE News.
Family First National Director Bob McCoskrie says usually adults tell children off for unacceptable behaviour, but in this case it is the adults who need the telling-off.
He says family violence is a big problem in New Zealand and too many children are witnessing bad behaviour.
“These are the families that we need to be most concerned about and where the monitoring of police and CYF should be targeted the most,” Mr McCoskrie says.
