Napier Hotel Congratulated For Rejecting Prostitution

Family First NZ is congratulating and thanking the Quality Inn in Napier for rejecting room bookings for the express purpose of prostitution. 
“We have red light districts for a reason, and families simply don’t want a brothel operating right next door to them in a family hotel. Parents don’t want men who are purchasing sex coming to their room by accident,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ. 
“Communities are rejecting the presence of prostitution in their neighbourhoods and towns. There is a healthy stigma against the industry – and part of the reason is because, despite the claims by those who profit from the industry, it is one of the most unsafe working conditions to be in.” 
“Decriminalisation has failed to achieve its stated objectives of improving the safety, health and welfare or the conditions of the workers. What it has achieved is greatly improving the conditions for pimps and brothel owners.”  
“Prostitution harms vulnerable, poor and young women and teaches men they can use women for their own sexual gratification,” says Mr McCoskrie. 
“How can we be serious about reducing sexual violence against women when the state legitimises the sexual abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people. Napier Quality Inn is to be congratulated for having such a pro-family policy.”
