Charter schools are back!
The Government is moving to bring back charter schools, an education model scrapped by the Labour-led coalition in 2017. Reintroducing these types of schools — and allowing state schools to become charter schools — was one of the conditions in National’s coalition deal with ACT. We speak to Alwyn Poole who, from 2013 – 2018, was involved in founding and running two successful Charter Schools after designing the model and the curriculum.
