‘Queer Is Here’- Lucky They Told Us!

State broadcaster TVNZ & Maori TV are being propped up financially by taxpayer-funded NZ On Air to produce programmes to remind you that LGBTQIA+++ is here. Because, apparently, nobody knew! We check out one of the episodes on “The church & the rainbow community”. There’s a couple of really really interesting bits in it – and some very creative theology and even some historical revisionism.

Show Script:

You’ve probably seen the adverts – TVNZ+’s documentary “Queer Aotearoa – We’ve always been here” – the untold history of New Zealand’s queer community.

Interestingly – or perhaps not – you paid for it. Yes the taxpayer funded NZ On Air funded the series

Now it’s not the “Queer and Here” series from Maori TV. That’s another separate one from the TVNZ one – the Maori TV one received two lots of funding totalling almost $600k of your hard earned tax money.

No – the TVNZ received a separate $611,000 of funding from NZ On Air

So, the state broadcaster and Maori TV are being propped up financially to produce programmes to remind you that LGBTQIA+ is here.

Because, apparently, nobody knew. Nobody realised that it existed. LGBTQIA+++ is here – who knew?

So, thank you, TVNZ, Maori TV and NZ On Air. We would never have known.

(Except of course for the saturation and indoctrination in media, parliament, schools, local councils, kindies, healthcare and woke businesses under the guise of ‘diversity equity inclusion’ – although it’s none of that.

Now I won’t punish you with watching it, but I do just want to focus on one of the episodes entitled “Love Thy Neighbour: The Church and the Rainbow Community”.

There’s a couple of really really interesting bits in it – and some very creative theology and even some historical revisionism.

So, let’s get into it. And it starts of with a number of errors – including the claim that Scripture is complicated when it comes to biblical sexual ethics – it isn’t. That we can cure ourselves – no, only God can. And that we can’t pray for forgiveness, healing & freedom from sin. Of course we can – that’s the amazing grace.

Let’s start “from the very beginning”. It’s sounding like the Sound of Music.

And it gets off to an even worse start because we have ex-Green MP Elizabeth Kerekere who left Parliament under accusations of bullying. She’s also guilty of rewriting NZ history as well. But she knows all the phobias.

And now some mythical history – from none other than Shaneel Lal and Kerekere.

But then their view is contradicted by another activist who admits that the indigenous people were very religious – because they were very spiritual people.

Back to fiction again.

Now remember these are the same activists who try and argue that Ruth and Naomi (in the book of Ruth), and David and Jonathan (in 1 Samuel) are somehow a same-sex relationship. They try to argue that Jonathan and David were in a committed relationship that may have been sexual – as were the Roman Centurion and his servant in Luke 7, and Philip and the eunuch in Acts 8.

These activists have no credibility in either theology or history.

Most of the relationships they refer to in pre-1800 Maori are not documented and in fact were simply friendships or partnerships with a focus on companionship.

Was their sexual sin? Highly likely.

Was it accepted? Highly unlikely – given the health harms and the understanding of the natural order.

But they continue with the myths

But the Maori loved the Bible – but it was all a trick – apparently

Then comes the narrative around Pacifika. Now as we all know, the Gospel is deeply ingrained amongst Pacifika – it’s certainly not a “white” gospel as some woke churches try to argue. And its certainly not a ‘colonisation’ issue because for Samoans and Tongans it has been deeply ingrained in their culture.

And this commentator is actually a worker at the Human Rights Commission who has pushed the conversion therapy bill and has tried to find cases of it since the law passed – without success – because it was never happening as they tried to argue. Two years. $2.2 million of your taxpayer funds – and the Human Rights Commission still can’t find a case.

Yep – the church and the culture. Deeply ingrained. With biblical ethics and an understanding of sin & grace, love & forgiveness, Truth v deception.

And interestingly he explains the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives perfectly.

We are made perfect in His identity – not our identity.

But then it’s an attack on a dear friend of mine – who you probably know as well – Sy Rogers, who is now with the Lord, but the fact that he dared to suggest that sexual sin could be healed. He knew, because it happened to him. And this is what I said during the conversion therapy debate. You can try and ban conversion ‘therapy’ – what that is, but you’ll never be able to ban conversion. You’ll never be able to ban God.

And that’s the inconvenient truth. It continues – and I think they tried to find the oldest footage they could of Sy

Wow – restored marriages. Fighting for their marriage. Shocker.

But now it was on to Israel Folau – another great man. Remember that meme quoting the bible verse from 1 Corinthians which said that drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, idolaters needed to repent

And that all those – all those that are living in sin will end up in hell unless we repent – that Jesus loves us and is giving us time to turn to him

The drunks, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, and idolaters ignored him, and carried on drinking, adultering, lying, fornicating, thieving, idol worshiping etc

But only one group got upset. Upset with biblical truth. Golly, thank goodness Israel didn’t quote Romans 1!

But Israel quoting Scripture was just an “ideological” view, apparently. According to this ex-pastor.

Well, known problem with another voice. If you can have a voice, then Israel can have a voice.

You are part of the Human Rights Commission, aren’t you. Or are human rights only for those you agree with.

Don’t answer that, we already know the answer, sadly.

But finally, it’s on to the conversion therapy prohibition bill – a bill preventing anyone who experiences unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria from getting the counselling or support they may wish. The law also criminalises loving parents, certain forms of prayer, and criminalises carers, pastors & counsellors – especially those who want to affirm young people in their biological sex. The biological truth.

While gender and sexuality is supposedly ‘fluid’, activists want the law to stipulate that it can only go in the direction they approve. The LGBT direction.

But listen carefully – and especially listen to what ex-MP Louisa Wall says regarding how we were born…

“We’re born exactly as we were meant to…”

Um – isn’t the mantra “born in the wrong body”?

Somebody didn’t get the memo.

Yes we were born exactly as we were meant to – because we were knit together in our mothers womb, fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139)

That’s actually not the last oopsy in this doco.

“they want to change us to be not broken”

Well, that’s actually the work of God in our lives, isn’t it. But I’m not sure that’s what we intended to mean.

We’re just about there, team.

Back to Shaneel – sorry. And some more myths around “torture”

But have a listen to this bit. It’s very very revealing, I’m still amazed he said it.

Did you hear that? Again….

“We convinced the media to hound them – and we did very well.”

Yep – they used the media to do their lobbying. This is the media which is supposed to report the facts, not influence the debate or drive the propaganda.

It’s a stunning admission.

We already knew that of course.

An in-depth analysis of the media coverage of the ‘conversion therapy’ bill found that support for the law received a heavily biased share of the media coverage during the campaign period.

Across all of the 102 news articles analysed, 78% of the coverage was supportive of the Conversion therapy bill, compared to just 22% of the coverage raising concerns and presenting arguments against the bill.

Furthermore, 42 articles were entirely Yes-biased and made no mention of arguments opposing the bill. This compared to only one article which was entirely biased towards the No position. One!

In short, there was almost four times as much news content in support of the bill as content raising concerns about or opposing the bill.

But here’s the key bit. This significant bias is based not only on the disproportionate coverage of support versus objections, but also the way concerns were addressed. Politicians who voiced their concerns were regularly referred to with derogatory or critical comments, such as “cringeworthy”, “shameful”, “transphobic” or “old dinosaur”.

But according to TVNZ and NZ On Air, nobody even knows that LGBT even exist.

By the way, Shaneel said that Labour were hopeless on the conversion therapy bill and he had to get the media to sort them out.

You know who Shaneel is working for now eh? Yes – the Labour party.

Finally – yes, I know you’ll be stoked to hear that – more propaganda.

160,000 signatures in one week. Nobody verified the signatures of the petition (so it was rife for abuse and overseas signatures).

Three years before that, they could muster only 20,000 signatures from a combined TWO petitions! So lots of double counting.

If you believe that the Greens got 8x the amount of two petitions in just one petition – in one week – then I have a really shiny bridge to sell you.

They didn’t.

Yes, some woke churches, and some asleep churches didn’t speak up. Fortunately, many great churches did speak up!

Just the religion and belief that the activists approve of.

Anyway, that’s enough punishment for today.

In case you weren’t aware, but thanks to your taxpayer dollars, you now know.

LGBTQIA+++ are here.

Bet that’s breaking news to you.
