While the finger is being pointed towards the UK at the BBC about their dishonest editing and manipulation of the narrative, there are also fingers pointing at New Zealand’s own news media. We show you the evidence.

Earlier this week Family First published government data showing that at least one child a month on average is surviving an abortion. A born-alive abortion. But despite their previous obsession with the overturning of Roe v Wade (they normally refer to abortion as an ‘imported culture war’), the media have gone deathly silent on this issue. In this episode, we deal with some of the myths that are being used to minimise the tragedy of what is happening to our most vulnerable children, and how the politicians shut down this debate in 2020 as they ushered in one of the most radical abortion laws in the world.

The once proud BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is a sad corpse of its once grand self. As we often say, credibility is hard won – but it is so easily lost. And in our view, the BBC is now beyond redemption. They’ve been called out by other media for blatant bias of not only their coverage of President Trump but also their Gaza coverage. But the NZ media would probably get the same ‘bust’.

Last week the Broadcasting Standards Authority thought they would do a survey “exploring public expectations around news content and factors that may help improve trust in New Zealand’s news media.” You and I could probably have saved them the survey money (which is taxpayer money, by the way), because we already know the answer. But it was what the survey told the BSA about where we get our news from that should be really worrying our legacy media. The news media are losing trust, they’re losing the next generation, and they’re doing everything they can to lose respect.

As with New Zealand, several states in the USA are, in effect, limiting the counselling options available to families by censoring the counsellor’s speech on issues of gender and sexuality. Instead, counsellors may only encourage children to undergo irreparable surgeries or take harmful drugs rather than helping children regain comfort with their sex. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court heard Chiles v. Salazar, the case of ADF client Kaley Chiles who is challenging such a law in Colorado. The results will not only impact the free speech rights of counsellors but also whether parents and kids can get the help they need. We speak to Jake Warner, Senior Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom in the US.

Is the trans agenda contagion amongst our young people finally over? Is the whole LGBT++ virus dying? Eric Kaufmann, professor at the U.K.’s University of Buckingham and director of the new Centre for Heterodox Social Science, says yes. He has analysed data from several large-size, high-quality youth surveys and notes a decided shift in American teens and young adults moving away from identifying as either trans or queer. We speak to cultural commentator Glenn Stanton from Focus on the Family in the USA who has analysed the report.

The media continue to campaign for the legalisation of drugs (masqueraded as “decriminalisation”), despite not being able to win the cannabis referendum in 2020. And they regularly use their mates at the Drug Foundation as a smokescreen. As a Green MP admitted, they want to legalise all drugs. They also talk about defunding the police and doing away with prisons. What could possibly go wrong!?

What has unfolded around Arise Church and its founding pastors, John and Gillian Cameron, is not merely a media story or a tale of internal dysfunction. It is an emblem of a broader spiritual and cultural conflict, one that reveals the pressures facing the Body of Christ in an age of ideological intolerance and moral confusion. To be clear, the Church is not above accountability. Leaders must always walk humbly before God and people. But accountability is not the same as vilification. Discipline is not destruction, and truth-seeking must never become a stage for public humiliation. What has happened to Arise is a cautionary tale one that exposes both the need for integrity within the Church and the dangers of a society increasingly hostile to its message.
