International Hotel Chain Bans Porn

Family First NZ is welcoming the decision by yet another international hotel chain InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to removing all on-demand pornography from their guest rooms in its 4,900 properties in 100 countries, including New Zealand. This follows on from similar decisions by Hyatt Hotels and Hilton Hotels & Resorts to change its policies to remove all on-demand pornographic videos from all of its properties worldwide.
This will include the Crowne Plazas in Auckland and Queenstown, Holiday Inn Rotorua and InterContinental Wellington.
“This is a great decision for families and for the protection of children, and shows that more and more companies are cleaning up their act and not wanting to profit from sexual exploitation and pornography addiction,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.
“This decision follows similar decisions by other businesses including Google which changed its policy to prohibit pornographic ads and any ads that link to websites with sexually explicit content on them, and Facebook which has taken steps to improve efforts to block and report child pornography on its site.”
“Society is finally waking up to the fact that pornography harms human dignity and leads to addictions, broken marriages, increased sexual violence, child sexual abuse, sex trafficking and prostitution,” says Mr McCoskrie.
“This is a significant cultural shift which is well overdue.”
