In quite the turnaround, the left-leaning New York Times editorial board – which had previously backed legalisation of marijuana – says the U.S. has “gone too far” in normalising the usage of the drug. Public opinion on marijuana is also changing. Since 2022, seven out of ten recreational legalisation ballot measures have failed. As marijuana use increases, Americans are seeing the negative impacts firsthand – and NZ’ers should celebrate that they voted No in the referendum in 2020. We dodged a bullet!
