‘Transing’ The Kids Now Mortally Wounded

Last week was a good week for young people. Especially young vulnerable children struggling with a number of confounding mental health issues including trauma, social phobia, anxiety, depression, autism & gender dysphoria. The ‘transgender agenda’ to ‘trans the children’ is suffering mortal blows – not a moment too soon. These latest events are happening in the US, but this will have a flow-down effect to New Zealand. We’ll make sure it does.

The first piece of good news was just over a week ago with this story reported by DailyWire

A young woman who had her healthy breasts removed at age 16 for supposed transgender “medical care” was awarded $2 million, marking the first successful detransitioner malpractice lawsuit in the nation. Fox Varian’s psychologist and surgeon were held liable by a jury in Westchester, New York…

Yes – New York. Blue state. Democratic state. Not exactly the bastion of social conservatism eh

The case is just the beginning of detransitioner lawsuits…these sorts of results could discourage doctors from advising or performing these types of life-altering surgeries on minors.

According to an article in the New York Post

Varian’s case is an important milestone — the first time someone is being held to account for churning children through a medical system fueled by ideology rather than evidence. There are at least 28 similar lawsuits headed to trial.

“My guess is that a lot of the themes that came up in her case are pretty consistent through a lot of these cases — lack of collaboration, lack of proper training [or] experience,” Varian’s lawyer, Adam Deutsch, told The Post. “Knowing now that a jury will feel comfortable holding doctors accountable for this is something that I think every doctor should take seriously.”

… Varian’s lawyers allege that [the psychologist] put “the idea in Fox’s head” to transition after the girl expressed feelings of gender dysphoria. “This man was just so emphatic, and pushing and pushing, that I felt like there was no good decision,” said Varian’s mother. “I think it was a scare tactic. I don’t believe it was malice, I think he believed what he was saying — but he was very, very wrong.”

[The mother] said that, although she was opposed to the surgery, she was intimidated into consenting when the psychologist claimed her daughter might otherwise commit suicide.

Varian’s lawyers allege that a host of other confounding mental health issues were not addressed, including social phobia, anxiety, depression, and autism.

[The plastic surgeon], meanwhile, was accused of meeting Varian just twice before her mastectomy, for 30 minutes each visit….

None of this should surprise you.

And it all sounds very very familiar. We’ve heard the same thing in New Zealand, haven’t we.

I’ll come back to those NZ examples shortly.

But then the next major development – again in the US which has been one of the leading countries on this madness – predominantly because of the fake ‘experts’ at the radical group WPATH, but backed up by medical associations who should know better but have been run from the top by radical leftist.

And this was it.

And it was surprisingly reported by the NZ Herald – I couldn’t find any other NZ media reporting it. Correct me if I missed it

But again, the DailyWire reported:

A major medical association said Tuesday that it does not support transgender surgeries on those under the age of 19, drawing praise from the Trump administration.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released a position statement saying that the available evidence did not support genital procedures or removing the breasts of young girls who identify as boys. The society also said there was “insufficient” support for placing kids on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

Oh wait, what? Hey, NZ Government, did you hear that?

“In light of recent publications reporting very low/low certainty of evidence regarding mental health outcomes, along with emerging concerns about potential long-term harms and the irreversible nature of surgical interventions in a developmentally vulnerable population, ASPS concludes there is insufficient evidence demonstrating a favourable risk-benefit ratio for the pathway of gender-related endocrine and surgical interventions in children and adolescents,” the society said in its position statement. “ASPS recommends that surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old.”

The position statement, in part, cited a review from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which found there was no support for transgender procedures on minors.

I’ll come back to that HHS report out of the US – their equivalent to our Ministry of Health

According to the NZ Herald report

“In 2019, [this same group] opposed attempts by states to restrict transition care and said that “plastic surgery services can help gender dysphoria patients align their bodies with whom they know themselves to be and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing”.

But now…

“The ASPS cited three systematic reviews by researchers at McMaster University in Ontario, who found evidence for the impact of puberty blockers and hormone therapy is limited…. the overall lack of evidence on paediatric gender care prompted ASPS to revise its position.”

So that’s Strike Two. The lawsuit, then the plastic surgeons group.

And then next minute… Strike Three.

In the DailyWire report

The American Medical Association (AMA) — which wields major influence as the nation’s largest medical association — has reversed course on its position concerning transgender surgical procedures for minors.

In a statement to National Review, the AMA said “the evidence for gender-affirming surgical intervention in minors is insufficient for us to make a definitive statement,” adding that it “agrees” with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) “that surgical interventions in minors should be generally deferred to adulthood.”

The AMA added that it supports “evidence-based treatment,” including other types of so-called gender-affirming care for minors.

So the AMA is now admitting that the evidence for surgical ‘gender affirmation’ is “insufficient”…

Does that mean that they’ve also changed their mind about chemicalisation (puberty blockers, wrong sex hormones) also?

And remember – it’s the AMA that has helped normalise the cutting and chemicalising of children in the name of gender ideology.

But of course, these groups are simply aligning now with the overwhelming evidence. And of course, the threat of financial ruin.

Remember the significant and thorough CASS review from the UK in 2024 which concluded that:

Puberty blockers should no longer be prescribed to children except in the context of research due to these powerful drugs’ effects on brain development and bone health

Cross-sex hormones — estrogen and testosterone — should be prescribed to trans-identifying 16 and 17-year-olds only with an “extremely cautious” approach, and there should be a “clear clinical rationale” for not waiting until the teen is 18

The CASS report also destroyed the suicide trope – better a live son than a dead daughter – which is used to manipulate parents

Young people facing gender-related distress had no significantly different levels of suicide risk to other young people with similar levels of complex presentations.
No evidence that gender-affirming treatment reduces suicide risk.

And then last year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) (similar to the Ministry of Health here in NZ) released a significant report urging exploratory therapy for youth with gender dysphoria rather than the chemicalisation and surgical intervention approach.

Of course, the NZ mainstream media went deathly silent – even after we sent out a Media Release alerting them to the report. As you will see this report goes completely against their favoured narrative.

The report said:

…the diagnosis of gender dysphoria is based entirely on subjective self-reports and behavioral observations, without any objective physical, imaging, or laboratory markers. The diagnosis centers on attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that are known to fluctuate during adolescence. ..

The report clearly outlines the risks of significant harm:

… includes irreversible endocrine and surgical interventions on minors with no physical pathology.. infertility/sterility, sexual dysfunction, impaired bone density accrual, adverse cognitive impacts, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders, psychiatric disorders, surgical complications, and regret.

That’s quite a list, isn’t it.

The report also says:

The “gender-affirming” model of care, as practiced in U.S. clinics, is characterized by a child-led process in which comprehensive mental health assessments are often minimized or omitted… In some of the nation’s 15 leading pediatric gender clinics, assessments are conducted in a single session lasting two hours.

The report also rightly criticises the “gender-affirming” model of care recommended by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) – a group which has been totally and utterly discredited after the WPATH Files which exposed WPATH as just pseudoscientific surgical and hormonal experiments on children

But remember – here in NZ at the end of last year just before Christmas, a decision by Justice Wilkinson-Smith in the Wellington High Court to grant an injunction on the government’s ban on puberty blockers until a judicial review takes place repeated all the talking points of the discredited ‘Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa (PATHA)’ (which is aligned with WPATH*), and the Judge based her decision on statements which are in direct conflict with the United Kingdom’s CASS Review and the Ministry of Health’s Evidence Brief.

That Judge should be embarrassed with what she has written in that judgement.

But WPATH is also the basis of NZ’s model via the activist group PATHA (Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa),

And by the way, just to really make your day, Tourism NZ is helping sponsor and bring the 2028 WPATH conference to New Zealand.

Unbelievable!!!!!!

Hopefully they’ll have been sued into oblivion by then.

Finally there was a recent HHS report in the US also called out the harmful resistance to psychotherapy, including the mischaracterisation of such approaches as “conversion therapy” which actually affirms children in their biological body.

The rise in youth gender dysphoria and the corresponding demand for medical interventions have occurred against the backdrop of a broader mental health crisis affecting adolescents… There is a dearth of research on psychotherapeutic approaches to managing gender dysphoria in children and adolescents. This is due in part to the mischaracterization of such approaches as “conversion therapy.”

And that’s why we’ll be campaigning to overturn the deeply flawed conversion therapy law – which sadly was supported by some church leaders – because the law harms and damages gender confused young people, not helps them.

The law blocks therapy for gender confused children because it might be deemed to be so-called ‘conversion therapy’ and the counsellor or pastor or even parent could face jail time for simply affirming the biological sex of a child and focusing on the co-presenting mental health issues.

Anybody who supported that law really needs to rethink their stance, and not side with a radical leftist agenda which is harming children.

And finally, what did the New Zealand Ministry of Health review find?

The Evidence Review found a lack of good quality evidence for the effectiveness or safety of puberty blocking treatment in young people with gender dysphoria. We do not have good evidence to say that the medicines used improve the longer-term outcomes for young people with gender-related health needs – nor that the potential longer-term risks are low.

Wow – that is damning.

So why the sudden capitulation of key medical groups in the US who have previously been pushing it so hard?

Money.

They’ve made significant money out of it – but now the lawsuits are coming.

It’s glorious to watch.

And remember, it was President Trump who started all this

When Zara was 13, she started ‘socially transitioning’ to be a male with a changed name and ‘preferred pronouns’. By the time she was 15, she was on puberty blockers. When she was 16, she was on testosterone. With the help of the public health system, she had ‘top surgery’ lined up for when she was 18 years old. She was told that if she said she was suicidal, it would help get her through the system quickly – so she did exactly what they told her to do.

Issy ‘transitioned’ to male at the age of 19, and then had ‘top surgery’ when she was 21 and a hysterectomy when she was 22. She grew a beard, got a deep voice, her period stopped, there was more sweat & she could make muscle easily. All the stuff she wanted. But she also got massively depressed.

Despite these testimonies having been viewed over half a million times, the media are nowhere to be seen. Not a single legacy media outlet in NZ has reported these testimonies – because they’ve been pushing the transing of the kids – just like these medical groups and WPATH and politicians.

So the house of cards is slowly but surely collapsing.

And yet NZ politicians and the Ministry of health are still dragging the chain on all of this.

As I heard one commentator say, one day our grandchildren will say to us “so people used to think that if you chop off breasts of girls and testicles and penis of boys, that it would turn them into the opposite sex. What were you thinking?”

Yes – we will all look back on the madness and shake our heads.

Especially those who thought it was ‘loving’ or ‘kind’ to buy into the ideology.

Including too many church leaders who should know better.
