court judgementNZ Herald 6 May 2015
A woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a toddler died in a hot car in Wanganui has been referred to the Restorative Justice process.

The woman, who has interim name suppression, was charged with manslaughter in relation to the death, and entered her plea in the High Court at Whanganui.

The 16-month-old boy died on January 16 after allegedly being left in a hot car at Whanganui Hospital.

In court this morning, the woman took several deep breaths and cried quietly before making her guilty plea in a strong voice.

Throughout her appearance she stood still, staring straight ahead as she stood in the dock.

Defence lawyer Debbie Goodlet asked that Justice Robert Dobson not yet enter a conviction, as they would apply for a discharge without conviction.
