Why The 1News ‘Bias’ Report Is Bogus
Good news everyone. Your fears were unfounded. 1News is not biased. You can absolutely trust them. That’s according to…. um…. 1News. We give you heaps of reasons why you should treat TVNZ’s report (commissioned by TVNZ and summarised by TVNZ on itself saying that TVNZ is not bias but not willing to release it in full) with the utter contempt it deserves.

Why the 1News ‘bias’ report is bogus
Good news everyone. Your fears were unfounded. What you thought and observed has no basis. Despite ALL the evidence that you were right, you were wrong all the time.
1News is not biased. You can absolutely trust them.
That’s according to…. um…. 1News.
The NZ Herald reports
A TVNZ-commissioned review of TVNZ’s news coverage has identified only “minor” issues – and “no evidence of systemic bias or lack of impartiality in 1News’ reporting”, according to a TVNZ summary of the report.
However, publicly owned TVNZ is refusing to release the actual report either routinely or under the Official Information Act – partly, it says, to protect the privacy of people named in it.
Well, they could just redact any personal names eh.
That sounds like a massive smoke screen.
TVNZ commissioned the independent review of its news … has provided its own summary of Sunderland’s report along with three “key extracts”
Yes – TVNZ published a summary – their own summary with their own spin. 2 Pages.
And you should take what they say as gospel. Apparently.
For some reason 1News didn’t want to report it – despite the apparently great result, which is kinda weird eh
By the way, the reviewer was former Editorial Standards Director at Australia’s public broadcaster the ABC.
The ABC is woke as – and hugely bias. Speak to any Australian – they’ll tell you that.
The ABC is like Radio NZ. Predominantly left wing slant.
Say no more.
Anyway, today I want to give you why TVNZ’s bias report is completely bogus.
EXHIBIT 1
In probably one of the most appallingly biased pieces of news coverage of late, 1News managed to find nine – yes, NINE – commentators including a primary school child on school holidays (!) to support reporter Maiki Sherman’s claim that ALL NZers are demanding a Palestine state (to reward terrorist group Hamas).
This is despite taxpayer funded RNZ recently admitting that less than 50% (low 40s) explicitly support such a notion. The one voice to the contrary was the Prime Minister Christopher Luxon – who is already leaning that way anyway!
So NINE to a weak ONE!

There was this interview from Breakfast on One I’m not sure why anybody is expecting balance and fairness on that programme but David Seymour obviously was and called them out for it.

You know I’ve never had an interviewer on TVNZ or any other media ask me to sing a song with them. Or be told how significant I was and how significant the work of Family First is.

When the awful shooting happened at the Catholic school in the US recently as the children were praying, the focus was just on guns – not the user and their mental state and ideology – and hate for religion – and left wing ideology – and wanting to transition to the opposite sex
Here’s two things the state broadcaster didn’t tell you
The mayor Jacob Frey had no problem having thoughts and prayers at the casket of George Floyd.
Tim Walz the governor who was that awful vice-presidential candidate with Kamala Harris is telling porkies.
According to media reports Catholic schools begged Gov. Tim Walz to increase security before horrific shooting — and he did nothing.
1News didn’t tell you that.
They certainly don’t want to talk about the manifesto and the ideology of the shooter, do they.

Remember the furore around drag queens grandstanding in front of children. There were two sides to the debate – but 1News and their breakfast show only wanted to show one side.
Watch this interview where TVNZ’s Breakfast interviewed two drag queens in an attempt to publicise and promote their tour around the country. Just so you know, we never got invited once by 1News to express our concerns – you know, the balanced coverage of both sides of the debate
Lovely. So balanced.

1 News said “Trans and Pregnant: Couple share journey to parenthood. “First of its kind”.”
Have a listen to the brilliant opening question from the host. An all time classic question to a biological female who has had a baby
Are you ready?
“You carried that child.” Wow – that is breaking news.
Biological woman gets pregnant. Woman carries child. Biological woman has baby.
Only Breakfast on 1 could think this is news.
But remember – there’s no impartiality – or challenging of ideologies that they like or agree with.
EXHIBIT 8
For those who watched the All Blacks v Italy match at the end of last year, TJ Perenara was once again drawing attention to himself. He used his final haka for the All Blacks to make a political statement on the controversial Treaty Principles Bill.
Let me show you how TVNZ’s Breakfast news show got themselves all tangled and tripped over their own bias.
But just to prove this, this is their response to Israel Folau quoting a bible verse on his personal Instagram account.

But then another sportsperson calls the government puppets and rednecks. Not on private social media. Nope – in full public and television view. A woman Hurricanes player

Done via a haka – can express views. Political views. Well, just not biblical views!
These women have beliefs and opinions – yep, so did Israel.
“We have a platform. Why not use our platform?” Yep – that’s what Israel did.
Ironically, the Breakfast team also said “They have social platforms where they can express their views.”
They NEVER mention the connection between the Hurricanes team expressing their deeply held beliefs or views and Israel Folau expressing his deeply held beliefs or views.
And then comes along TJ Perenara speaking his viewpoint – just like Israel Folau.
How did 1News and Breakfast deal with this. Did we have an emotional Matty?
Of course not. Apparently people can make statements. Wow – what a turnaround. Have a watch
Apparently now according to TVNZ, it’s ok to speak up on social issues.
You can see how the left don’t understand free speech, can’t defend it, and trip themselves up trying to explain their position on it.

Last July, State broadcaster TVNZ’s Seven Sharp weren’t happy that drag queens aren’t allowed to read LGBT books to children so they did some campaigning. The segment was entitled “Hilary Barry Uncovers: How Online Hate Ruined Rainbow Story Time”. Now remember – there is nothing sexual about the name Willy Smack ‘n Tush. Nope nothing at all.
Christian fundamentalists. AKA – people that Hillary Barry doesn’t agree with so doesn’t like. In fact, I bet Hillary can’t even define what she means by Christian fundamentalists.
It’s so amusing that Jeremy the presenter can say “Willy Smack ‘n Tush” with a straight face. That’s irrelevant – it’s the haters hating
But here’s what TVNZ didn’t show. They didn’t show the other stuff that these “children’s performers” posted – which of course inquisitive children would easily google

Some Elon Musk Derangement Syndrome from 1News
Elon Musk is not your normal type of guy. No normal person has achieved what he has done – in terms of his space travel, technology, Tesla electric cars, opening up Twitter to free speech.
And you only have to watch him being interviewed to see that he’s… quirky.
Let’s watch 1news our state broadcaster at the celebration of Trump’s election.
As you watch this clip, note that Musk does a number of quirky things that many normal people don’t do.

Let’s watch 1News coverage – and note when they stop the coverage, and the reporter comes back in.
Yep – note that they show half of it – but not the emphasis on the heart, and not the statement.
They do eventually connect the heart message – but it’s an afterthought.

Now some Trump Derangement Syndrome – which they’re very good at.
1News mocked – “Trump town hall event: ‘Let’s just listen to music’”

But what actually happened?
Trump showed some humanity by halting a political rally so that sick people could be tended to by emergency services – twice – and then turned it into a fun event of music and signing Trump caps.
But the media mockers pounced on it – and totally tried to fool you.

EXHIBIT 12
1News reporter Jack Tame grossly misrepresented former President Donald Trump’s comments about protecting women from illegal immigrants.
Let’s watch Trump’s comments where he clearly says he would protect Americans (and women) from illegal immigrants who are killing innocent people (including many women) whether “the women like it or not.” (likely referring to Kamala and others who allow open borders).
Note the full context of his comments. (Abortion has nothing to do with it! In fact, in his whole long speech, he never once mentioned abortion or “reproductive rights” etc)
Now watch 1News coverage.
The speech coverage is stopped – mid-sentence! And Jack says Trump was referring to – abortion.
And then Jack says “After Donald Trump’s comments around reproductive rights in Wisconsin last night, Kamala Harris was quick to pounce”.
Trump’s comments were not about reproductive rights. End of. But that was the narrative being pushed by the mainstream media. As soon as he says “women”, the narrative is abortion. Ironically, those same people can’t define what a woman is.

Remember Posie Parker being hounded out of a public speaking event and being assaulted and an elderly woman being punched in the face – by trans activists.
Well, according to the 1News report
“The Disinformation Project’s Kate Hannah told Breakfast the research comes after members of the trans community expressed concern over a rise in hate following the visit of British anti-trans speaker Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, also known as Posie Parker. “We heard from trans community members that they had experienced a rise in hate and harm after the visit of Posie Parker,” Hannah said.”
Are they referring to this hate eh? Oh wait – that’s the wrong side. Moving on.

Remember the debacle of the Paris Olympics and that opening ceremony that mocked elements of the Christian faith and had drag queens. 1News thought it was fantastic!
In an unprecedented display of inclusivity, drag queens took centre stage at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, showcasing the vibrant and influential role of the French LGBTQ+ community — while also attracting criticism over a tableau reminiscent of “The Last Supper.”
Their report is a puff piece for the merits of drag, and concludes
Drag is not just a pastime; for many minority French communities who feel alienated over tensions arising from divisive politics and scars from the anti-gay marriage protests a decade ago, it’s a statement of defiance.
Many gay Black and Arab youths — especially those from Paris’ less affluent and religiously conservative suburbs — and others who feel a sense of disconnect with French society find voguing and drag events safe places where their identities can be expressed without fear of reprisal.

1News have been very keen to keep the radical Relationships and Sexuality Education in schools and indoctrinate your children with their 112 genders and 200 plus sexualities to choose from.
But they only ever talk to one side on the issue. The radical side – of course
Back in April last year,
according to 1News, and you just need to look at the feature image and the loveheart with the LGBT colours to see actually what this is all about…
An open letter is calling on the Government to keep the current relationship and sexuality education guidelines in schools and kura, despite coalition promises to do otherwise.
Who are the organisations?
I’ve circled all the ones that are LGBT – so the ones with a vested interest and showing what the real focus is.
Have there been any other petitions? Let me think. Oh wait, there was this one
A petition to stop NZ schools teaching gender diversity.
In fact, the petition was eventually submitted to Parliament with 40,668 signatures. That’s more signatures than all the other ones that 1News have reported – combined!
But the media never mentions this one. Classic eh.
But 1News did mention another petition – once again calling FOR radical RSE in schools to indoctrinate children. This time – hosted by Labour.
1News Breakfast decided to do some marketing for the petition – “tell me about the petition”
In other words, let’s give you some promotion.
Yep – no mention about all the other students who’s welfare should also be considered – those with disabilities, different racial groups, socially awkward children who often get picked on, overweight students.
Phew!
I could actually share a lot more – but you get the picture.
